SiteGround Offers Free SSL Support with Free Cloudflare Plan

SiteGround launched Its Cloudflare integration service back in 2012. Since the launch thousands of customers have been using Cloudflare CDN (Content Delivery Network) and its security functionalities on SiteGround. SiteGround just added two new improvements in the Cloudflare packages. First, free SSL is now supported in the free Cloudflare service plan. And second, a new security feature called the “Cloudflare Web Application Firewall” has been introduced in the Cloudflare plus plan.

Free SSL Support with Cloudflare

A lot of users requested feature by our Cloudflare users over the last year. SiteGround has been making improvements to increase SSL usage on the servers. The first step was to start offering free SSL certificate via Let’s Encrypt in their hosting plans. Now that it’s done users have been requesting to support SSL support in the free Cloudflare plan. With these new improvements SiteGround customers can use both SSL and Cloudflare without any additional charge. All you need to do is turn on the SSL option in the SiteGround Cloudflare interface.

There are 3 SSL support options in the interface – Flexible, Full and Full Strict. If you do not have SSL certificate issued for your domain, you should set the SSL support to Flexible. If you do have a SSL certificate issued you can set it to Full Strict.

Cloudflare Web Application Firewall

There have been some big improvements for SiteGround Cloudflare Plus users as well. Customers can now benefit from the security protection of the Cloudflare Web Application Firewall. This firewall protects your site by adding rules every day and reacting to all the major vulnerabilities that can affect WordPress, Magento, Drupal, PHP, Joomla etc. Cloudflare Web Application Firewall can also prevent SQL injection, automated attacks, posts containing common spam words, XSS javascript injections, cross-site scripting etc.

It provides protection against the top 10 vulnerabilities identified by OWASP (a free and open software security community) and leverages the collective intelligence of Cloudflare users. You can even supply your own Web Application Firewall rules without adding any hardware or software. If you are on SiteGround Hosting Cloudflare Web Application Firewall can be an extremely effective protection tool for your website.
