Variable Price is an add-on for the Payment Button for PayPal WordPress plugin (also known as WP PayPal or WordPress PayPal) that can be used to add a custom price field to your PayPal checkout buttons. This lets buyers set the amount they will pay for your products.
How Variable Price with WP PayPal Works
When your PayPal Checkout button (wp_paypal_checkout shortcode) is rendered on the front end, a price input field will appear with it.
The default label for the price input field can be customized for all buttons in the add-on settings (WP PayPal > Variable Price).
How to Enable Variable Price
In order to add a price input field, you can change your “wp_paypal_checkout” button shortcode to the following.
[wp_paypal_checkout description="My checkout product" amount="3.99" variable_price="1"]
Setting the “variable_price” parameter to “1” implies that you wish to allow visitors to enter a custom amount for this item.
The default label “Amount:” can also be customized for each button using the “variable_price_label” parameter in the shortcode.
