How to Install Payment Button for PayPal in WordPress
- Login to your WordPress admin dashboard
- Go to Plugins->Add New Plugin
- Enter Payment Button for PayPal naa986 in the search box
- Once you find the plugin hit the install button
The plugin can also be downloaded from here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-paypal/. For a manual installation go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin and select the zip file that you downloaded.
How to Use the Plugin
Once you have installed the plugin, you need to configure some settings by navigating to WP PayPal -> Settings.
Product
To create a buy button you need to create a product first (WP PayPal > Products). You can then add a shortcode block from your WordPress post/page editor and insert the following shortcode into it.
[wp_paypal_product id="1"]
Replace 1 with the actual product ID.
Publish/update the page and you will see the button on the front end.
Clicking this button will take you to the checkout page where payment options will appear.
Checkout
In order for the payment options to appear, your checkout page needs to contain the following shortcode.
[wp_paypal_checkout]
This will show the eligible payment methods the at checkout.
Manage PayPal Orders
When you receive a new order it will appear in the Orders menu.
Add-ons
WP PayPal/Payment Button for PayPal plugin comes with various add-ons that you can use to enhance its functionality on your website.
Custom Input
Custom Input add-on shows a text box with your buy now button. This lets you collect custom data from buyers.
Variable Price
Variable Price add-on shows a price input field with your buy now button. This lets buyers set the amount they wish to pay.
Contact Form 7 Integration
Contact Form 7 Integration add-on can show a pre-configured buy now button after a form submission. This allows buyers to make payments after a Contact Form 7 type form is submitted.
Mailchimp Integration
Mailchimp Integration add-on can automatically add the buyer’s email address to your chosen Mailchimp audience/list after a WP PayPal payment.

That was 1 step forward but it doesn’t help me since my ultimate goal is to dynamically build the wp_paypal_checkout shortcode in XYZ snippets, (using PHP), and include that XYZ snippet it in a page. I do this with other short_codes and they work fine, but wp_paypal_checkout shortcode will not run inside an XYZ snippet. Are you aware of an issue running your shortcode inside a product like XYZ? There are other products like XYZ but I’ve tried them all in the past few days without any success.
Is there a way to place a button for just the Credit card payment option? I am wanting to try using my own button image but also want to give guests the chance to pay via card on the site. I can get the custom button image working fine.
@Paul, Are you using PayPal Checkout shortcode? The card option should appear by default.
I normally do for an ordinary Buy now and credit card button combo. Does that work with the button_image parameter?

Thanks but the Paypal Checkout shortcode won’t show a custom button image. If I display a custom button image, the credit card button isn’t displayed. I thought if there was a way to show just the credit card button, I could use that shortcode straight after the custom image.
I’d rather not turn away people who don’t have a paypal account.
Hi! I wonder if you could help? We’ve used WP PayPal for years, and this is the shortcode that has always worked on our WordPress page

Now the shortcode snippet is all that shows on the published page, everywhere we’ve had a add to cart button before, and we didn’t do anything differently. Do you know what may have happened? Thank you!
@Tracie, The previous version allowed the button price to be dynamically changed. Although changing the price did not provide access to anything, the functionality still had to be removed due to a security concern.

I can’t find such information now and I really would like to disable some of the funding options. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
